BZ LIGHT

Light Laboratory

We operate our own lighting laboratory for quality assurance. Before a new LED lamp is included in our range, we test it in accordance with DIN standards using sophisticated measuring technology that is calibrated at regular intervals. Our many years of experience and our measurement technology form a solid basis for carrying out measurements in accordance with national and international standards.



Instruments

Using a spherical photometer and a spectrophotometer, we determine the photometric values of a light source. The luminous flux, radiant power, luminance and illuminance as well as the quantitative spectral distribution related to a light color are determined. Furthermore, the color temperature and the color rendering index Ra are determined according to DIN 6169.

The ball photometer, also known as the integrating sphere, is a metal hollow sphere that can be opened vertically in two halves. With an inner diameter of 2 meters, the system can accommodate lamps and luminaires of a length of up to 150cm. Inside, the integrating sphere is coated with white barium sulfate, which reflects the light diffusely and homogeneously. The light source to be measured is positioned in the centre of the spherical photometer, where the illuminance sensor is located.

The integrating sphere is also used for comparative measurements and CIE-compliant measurement of high and low power LEDs.



Measuring instruments

With our measuring devices, we can create precise light source test reports on light sources. Every 12 months we have wavelength calibration, spectral calibration and absolute calibration carried out by representatives of the device manufacturers.

In order to precisely specify operating hours and switching intervals for our LED lamps, we carry out measurements of the burning time and the switching resistance up to total failure. The LED products are tested in 1 minute - 3 minutes off cycle to determine the actual service life according to DIN EN 60969.
